Making a DIY turmeric latte is the best way to sip a warm, healthy, comforting drink without paying the exorbitant prices at a coffee house.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup plant-based, dairy free milk I like organic, unsweetened soymilk or cashew milk for this latte.
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract I like organic and alcohol free
  • 1 pinch black pepper this increases the absorption rate of curcumin/turmeric.
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup or according to taste
  • 1 tbsp Golden Milk this one is my favorite

OR - spices from scratch (instead of Golden Milk)

  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan, or microwave, heat the plant-based milk until hot but not boiling. Stir often to prevent burning.
  • Measure out the Golden Milk, OR the individual spices, and sift through the fine mesh strainer into your mug.
  • Add a little bit of water, or milk, to the spices in your mug and, using the whisk, stir vigorously until all the spices are combined and there are no clumps.
  • If using the milk frother, froth the milk until desired consistency.
  • Pour the hot milk into your mug.
  • Add the vanilla, maple syrup, and black pepper. Stir until combined.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use either the Golden Milk powder OR the individual spices, not both.
  • It is best to sift your spices through a fine mesh strainer. This prevents the spices from clumping.
  • Using a whisk is very helpful. A whisk helps to break up any clumps and blend the spices easily.
  • I like to use room temperature water, instead of milk that comes from the fridge when mixing up my spices or Golden Milk. This ensures all of the spices dissolve and combine well.
  • Instead of frothing just your milk, you can also wait until the very end to froth your entire turmeric latte. Personally I like to froth just my milk but you can experiment with this process.
